From Exposure to Repentance
On December 9, 2020 by Anna De LayOur world is in a pivotal place right now. Sometimes it feels as if it is hanging by a thread. So many things are upside down – right is wrong, evil is called good, wickedness seems to be prevailing. The fight between good and evil is so evident. As things continue to change before our eyes, revealing one thing after another, it can be easy as believers to sit back and just watch it all unfold – as if we are blameless. But that is not so.
But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away.
2 Timothy 3:1-5
This is where we are. This is where we have been for years, and it took 2020 for us to really see it. But notice how the worldly Christian is also lumped in with the rest: “having a form of godliness but denying its power.” This is a powerless believer, a prayerless, Bible-less Christian, one who is more concerned about the things of the world and self-gratification rather than the things of God. If we think that God will pass us over in this time of exposure just because we “believe”, we have another thing coming.
So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’–and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked–I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich: and white garments that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love I rebuke and chasten. Therefore, be zealous and repent.
Revelation 3:16-19
**Father, we see the wickedness and chaos happening throughout the country and the world as many have no fear of God and have cast off restraint. Yet, your Church is not without fault. We have denied the power of God by our prayerlessness and have allowed complacency to lull us into a deep slumber. We have diluted your Word and have been more concerned with our own pleasures than with souls hanging in the balance. Lord, you are knocking at our hearts’ doors today. Come in and purge out worldliness as we seek your face with fervency again. Cleanse us with your holy fire, revealing to us the things that grieve your heart. Cause your people to awaken out of sleep. Let passion for your Word come alive in us. Raise up a people of God full of power in prayer and diligence in godliness. Turn us back to You fully. Renew a right and pure spirit within your Church and within me. Amen
I am a wife, homeschool mom, musician, and songwriter; but most importantly, I am a daughter of the King. My heart’s desire is to draw closer to God and bring other people with me! Truly, there is no greater joy.
