Have I Not Sent You?
On March 8, 2020 by Anna De LayGideon was hiding when the Angel of the Lord came to him and proclaimed, “Mighty man of valor! The Lord is with you!” The enemy was raging around the people of God, invading their camp, destroying their very livelihoods to the point that the Israelites retreated into caves. And here was Gideon, hiding like everyone else, continuing on with his daily tasks in secret, so that the enemy couldn’t see him.
Gideon complained, “If the Lord is with us, why is this happening?”
And the Lord replied, “Have I not sent YOU?”
By human standards, Gideon was a coward.
Yet, God knew who Gideon could be, even when Gideon couldn’t see it himself. Like Moses did years earlier, Gideon made some pretty lame excuses as to why he wasn’t the right man for the job, until finally, he gave in to obedience.
Thank God He sees our potential!!
But how many of us are hiding, much like Gideon, carrying on with our daily lives, ignoring the spiritual battle He has called us to enter into?
“Have I not sent YOU?”
Christians, we are called to be prayer warriors for the lost, the hurting, the defenseless. To be the hands and feet of Jesus and do as he did on this earth. To stand in the gap for our neighbors, our brother, friends, strangers. If not us, then who? Who will lead our families to Christ? Who will speak life to the broken?
The battle is all around us, yet we are consumed with other things. Life. Family. Work. Media. Technology. Worries. Stress. Bills…
The cares of this world and mediocrity are drowning out the voice of God so much that we go on with our day to day as if we are not in the biggest fight of our lives. As if the enemy is not stealing our livelihoods out from under us. As if our God is not stronger than the war that rages around us.
Content with hiding out.
Accustomed to the sound of darkness invading our own homes.
Afraid to step out of our comfort zones.
The Lord promised Gideon that He would be with him and that he would win the battle. Yet, we all know the story of how Gideon kept testing God with the fleece, needing just one more confirmation and then another.
If God has called us, why are we so afraid to fail? We literally can’t fail in the thing He wants us to do, because He has promised to be with us! And if He is with us, then nothing can stand in our way. Let us step into the battle unafraid!

I am a wife, homeschool mom, musician, and songwriter; but most importantly, I am a daughter of the King. My heart’s desire is to draw closer to God and bring other people with me! Truly, there is no greater joy.
